Acupuncture for pain, stress, and other life challenges

Steeped in Tradition. Grounded in Science.

Acupuncture began thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. Today, it has grown into a modern medical discipline supported by anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and an expanding body of clinical research.

Many people associate acupuncture with pain relief – and rightly so. It has become one of the most widely studied non-drug treatments for both acute and chronic pain. But its applications extend far beyond sore backs and stiff necks.

Modern acupuncture is increasingly used alongside conventional medical care to support recovery from illness, reduce inflammation, improve sleep, regulate the nervous system, ease stress and anxiety, enhance athletic performance, and help the body recover after surgery or injury.

You don't even need to be sick to benefit from acupuncture. Many patients simply enjoy how it makes them feel: more relaxed, mentally clear, physically balanced, and better able to handle the demands of everyday life.

How Can Acupuncture Help You?

Acupuncture has been studied in thousands of clinical trials and is commonly incorporated into integrative medical care throughout the world. Based on my experience, it may be helpful for:

  • Acute and chronic pain, including neck pain, back pain, arthritis, joint pain, and nerve pain

  • Headaches, migraines, TMJ dysfunction, facial pain, and teeth grinding

  • Sports injuries and orthopedic rehabilitation

  • Stroke recovery, balance disorders, dizziness, and vertigo

  • Stress, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, depression, and nervous system regulation

  • Insomnia, chronic fatigue, burnout, and low energy

  • Digestive disorders, including IBS and functional gastrointestinal conditions

  • Bladder, urinary, and pelvic health concerns

  • Chemotherapy-related nausea, fatigue, and supportive cancer care

  • Postoperative recovery, chronic wounds, and tissue healing

  • General wellness, resilience, and healthy aging

If you're unsure whether acupuncture is appropriate for your condition, simply ask. I'll give you an honest opinion – even if I don't think acupuncture is the right answer for you.

The Power of Touch

I have practiced acupuncture for more than twenty-five years and hold a doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with conventional medical training as an FNP.

Those two disciplines complement one another remarkably well.

Western medicine helps me understand disease, physiology, imaging studies, medications, and laboratory results. Traditional Chinese medicine offers a different perspective – one that emphasizes function, balance, movement, and the body's remarkable capacity to heal.

After all, good medicine isn't about choosing one approach over another. It's about using the right tool at the right time. Or both, if the need be.

Classical Medicine. Modern Tools.

Every treatment begins with a careful evaluation rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Depending on your condition, your treatment may include:

  • Classical meridian acupuncture

  • Trigger point therapy (dry needling)

  • Electroacupuncture

  • Low-level laser therapy

  • Scalp acupuncture

  • Auricular (ear) acupuncture

  • Therapeutic injections

  • Manual therapies and soft tissue techniques

No two patients receive exactly the same treatment. Every session is individualized based on your symptoms, examination findings, goals, and response to therapy.

Looking Beyond the Symptoms

Pain is rarely just pain.

Poor sleep, chronic stress, previous injuries, inflammation, nutrition, medications, posture, movement patterns, and emotional trauma can all influence how the body heals.

My goal is not simply to make symptoms disappear for a few days. It is to understand why they developed in the first place and help your body regain normal function.

What to Expect

Treatments take about 35 to 45 minutes.

Many patients notice meaningful improvement after their first visit. Others require several treatments, particularly if the problem has been present for months or years.

I believe patients deserve honest answers, not exaggerated promises.
