Meet Dr. Lu

I specialize in body-mind medicine, acupuncture, and mental health wellness. Over more than 30 years of clinical practice, I have refined an integrative approach to care that blends complementary therapies with modern evidence-based medicine, helping people find their way through chronic pain, trauma, stress, anxiety, and many of life's more difficult moments.

My credentials

Board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANPCB #F0605156) and the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM #15170).
Licensed to practice in Arizona, Florida, and New York.
Above all else, I am a son, husband, and father - roles that continue to shape how I think about health, aging, and caring for others.

My education

Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Five Branches University
Master of Science in Family Health from the University of Colorado
Graduate of the South Baylo University, School of Oriental Medicine
Postgraduate Fellowship in Primary Care Psychiatry at the University of California, Irvine

My philosophy

My approach to healing is what I would call holistic, but realistic.

That's a polite way of saying I'm not going to hand you a medication prescription the moment you call, but I'm also not going to suggest that meditation alone will cure a bacterial infection.

If medication is truly the right tool for the job, I'll work with you to find a regimen that works with your body rather than against it – effective, but as gentle as the situation allows. If there's a smarter, less invasive path forward (say, herbs), we'll explore that first.

I may also recommend – and I mean recommend, not sell – evidence-based complementary therapies such as acupuncture, hypnosis, therapeutic injections, or nutrition. Not because they're fashionable, but because they can be remarkably effective when used thoughtfully and for the right reasons.

My expectation is simple: you should notice a difference after the very first visit – whether that's improvement in your symptoms, a clearer understanding of what's happening, or simply the relief of finally feeling heard.

While I can’t compete with other practices on the interior grandeur or the marketing budget, I take pride in offering my patients a sensible alternative to a soulless corporate-run health care “system.”

My pledge

To welcome everyone. Whoever you are and wherever you come from, you belong here.
To keep things simple. No memberships. No contracts. Come when you need me, step back when you don't.
To listen first. Healing begins with understanding the person, not just the symptoms on the intake form.
To take you seriously. Your intuition matters. You know your body better than anyone else.
To create a safe space. No insurance-driven decisions. No judgment. No rush.
To respect your choices. I will never pressure you into a treatment that doesn't feel right to you.
To be patient. Healing is incremental. Everyone moves at their own pace.
To know when enough is enough. Once you've reached a stable place, I won't manufacture reasons to keep you coming back.
To stay in your corner. Life has its ups and downs, and I'm not going anywhere. Whether you need me next month or five years from now, consider me a constant in whatever comes next.
